In our Los Angeles Plastic Surgery office, we incorporate microdermabrasion in our cosmetic facials as well as our medical facials.  Microdermabrasion is a technique whereby diamond microcrystals are used to exfoliate the top layer of epidermis, thereby smoothing skin complexion and reducing skin surface irregularities such as seborrheic keratosis, blemishes, clogged pores, blackheads, and fine wrinkles.  Microdermabrasion can be used on the face, hands, and chest and can rejuvenate the skin.  Find out more about the high-tech and safe diamond microdermabrasion system used at Kare Plastic Surgery & Skin Health Center on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica.

Let the beauty experts at Kare Plastic Surgery on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica provide the best microdermabrasion and facial in Santa Monica

Microdermabrasion works effectively to improve the quality and texture of the skin.  The following list describes some of the reasons why microdermabrasion is performed in our Santa Monica and Beverly Hills plastic surgery offices:

  1. Age spots
  2. Enlarged pores on the nose and face.
  3. Superficial pigmentation.
  4. Fine wrinkles
  5. Acne
  6. Sun damage and uneven complexion.

Microdermabrasion is an ideal treatment for acne patients who do not want to incorporate harsh chemical acids or antibiotics into their acne regimen.  By unclogging pores and exfoliating the skin, microdermabrasion can clear active and future comedones that will lead to acne. Schedule an appointment for microdermabrasion in Santa Monica or Beverly Hills.  We would recommend the Diamond Tome microdermabrasion system because it provides controlled exfoliation of skin without harmful side effects.  Microdermabrasion has been shown to minimize clogged pores and decrease the onset and duration of acne breakouts.  If you are planning an important event or wedding and are having acne breakouts, Diamond Tome microdermabrasion is an ideal way to treat your skin. Microdermabrasion removes the outermost layer of skin, leaving the pores free of debris and sebum that can cause acne.

If you have large pores and other benign problems of the skin, the microdermabrasion systemmay improve these skin issues during treatment.  Many patients also complain of overactive oil glands and skin tags, which can both be managed during your treatment with hyfrecation therapy, a minimal recovery procedure performed under local anesthesia.

  1. Can I combine microdermabrasion with a chemical peel? Yes.  Microdermabrasion combined with a Kare Radiant Peel would be ideal for acne and acne prone skin.  The Diamond Microdermabrasion effectively eliminates sebum and exfoliates clogged pores, while the chemical peel, using a combination of Salicylic and TCA acids, reduce pore size and sebum production.  The combined Microderm+Kare Radiant peel can be performed to reduce acne breakouts before a major event.
  2. Can I combine microdermabrasion with an IPL photofacial? In our Santa Monica office, we often combine microdermabrasion with an IPL photofacial to eliminate brown spots and reduce acne.  The microdermabrasion effectively reduces clogged pores and eliminates skin, while the IPL photofacial targets brown spots and age spots as well as facial redness.  The reduction in inflammatory mediators helps reduce acne breakouts.  Learn more about IPL.

  1. SUNSCREEN: One week after your scar revision treatment, our office recommends complete avoidance of direct sun exposure and twice daily application of a sunscreen. We recommend the Melarase AM Daily UV Protect with SPF 30. You may purchase Melarase AM from our office during your treatment or thereafter on . Melarase AM contains SPF 30 combined with non-hydroquinone skin lighteners to enhance skin color and prevent skin discoloration.  Studies have shown superior results with combination treatments that includes microdermabrasion and daily use of topical creams.  SPF usually refers to protection against UVB, but Melarase AM provides broad spectrum sunscreens that protect against UVA and UVB.
