Hidradenitis Suppurativa

Hidradenitis Suppurativa is a skin condition that causes boils, pimples, cysts, and abscesses in the groin, armpits, and hairline. Unlike occasional ingrown hairs and folliculitis, Hidradenitis Suppurativa is a longterm condition characterized by recurrent skin abscesses. The most common areas where Hidradenitis occurs include the armpits, groin, breasts, inner thighs, and buttocks.

If you are experiencing symptoms of Hidradenitis, it is best to see an expert plastic surgeon who can evaluate your condition and determine whether you require a surgical or medical approach to treatment. Since there are many advancements in Hidradenitis treatment, it is best to evaluate all of your options before undergoing therapy.

In most cases of Hidradenitis, there is a a genetic component to disease development and progression. Speak to family members about your problem to determine the types of treatments that have worked for them in the past.

  6. Body Acne: Hidradenitis may mimic acne pustules and folliculitis.
