Breast Lift Mastopexy
Breast Lift and Breast Mastopexy for Correction of Breast Droopiness

One of the most commonly requested breast enhancement procedures is a breast lift, particularly for women who have had children or who are above the age of thirty.  A breast lift is designed to reduce sagginess and droopiness of the breasts that occurs as a result of normal aging or pregnancy.  It is also thought that prolonged breast feeding can also place a woman at higher risk of breast sagginess.  A breast lift can also be performed after breast augmentation or in combination with a breast implant procedure in those women who have a loss of volume coupled with a droopy nipple and areola.

A breast lift is also known as a mastopexy and can reshape the breast and provide a more youthful shape to the breast and nipple-areola.  Breast lifts are performed to tighten the breast skin and reshape the entire breast mound to make it more perky and youthful.  Breast augmentation with saline or silicone breast implants can often be performed simultaneously with a breast lift procedure. Beverly Hills Breast Lift: Schedule a consultation today by calling (310) 998-5533 and speaking to one of our patient care coordinators. We look forward to seeing you in our Los Angeles office.  Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is a double board certified plastic surgeon and an expert in breast enhancement surgery, including breast lift and breast implant procedures.  He sees patients in consultation at his Santa Monica office and performs surgery in both Santa Monica and Beverly Hills.

The goal of breast lifts is to create a natural breast contour and also elevate the nipples so they no longer droop with age.  Many patients choose breast lift operations after pregnancy and breast feeding as these two factors are known to accelerate breast aging and droopiness.   The most common question asked by patients is whether they will need a breast implant alone, a breast lift alone, or whether they will benefit from a combined breast lift and breast implant procedure.  The answer to the questions depends on how much breast fullness a woman has and whether the nipple and areola are positioned correctly on the breasts.  If a woman has lost her breast volume or fullness, she most likely will need a breast implant to add dimension to the breast.  If the nipple and areola are droopy, chances are that a breast lift will be needed to reposition the nipple and areola.  If there is loss of fullness and droopy nipples, then a combined breast lift and breast augmentation will likely be recommended.

There are several different techniques available for breast lift surgery.  Among plastic surgeons, a breast lift is known as a mastopexy, but there are many different variations of breast lifts available. The following lists several techniques available for breast lift and details about these techniques are presented below:

  1. Circumareolar mastopexy
  2. Short scar mastopexy
  3. Traditional Wise pattern mastopexy

Areola and nipple surgery can dramatically change the look of your breasts and can minimize the droopiness associated with the nipples. Most areola and nipple surgery is performed on an outpatient basis under anesthesia or local anesthesia.  If you are considering one of several options for areola reduction, areola surgery, or nipple reduction surgery, please call our office and schedule a consultation with Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian, a Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon, to discuss your options for surgery and anesthesia.  Call our office at (310) 998-5533.

A crescent breast lift is performed to provide a slight lift to one or both areola.  When the areola require a one to two centimeter lift, a small creascent shaped incision is made above the areola and the excess skin is removed and the areola lifted. Downtime is minimal with the crescent lift and the scar is usually well hidden and camouflaged within the areolar border.

  1. Can I use Arnica supplements for bruising after a breast lift? Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian recommends that all patients take Bruise-Pak Arnica supplements after all breast surgery procedures in order to minimize swelling and bruising associated with surgery.  The Arnica montana contained in Bruise-Pak is more standardized than other homeopathic formulations and is available in chewable tablets that promote compliance. You can purchase Bruise-Pak from our office or online;
  2. What can I do to lift up my nipples and areola without major surgery? There are many different options for breast lift surgery, many of which are outlined on our website for breast lift in Los Angeles.  A minor breast lift can be performed, which incorporates a combination of periareolar mastopexy and donut mastopexy to lift up your nipple and areola without significant downtime or recovery.
