Miradry Treatment Now FDA Approved for Hyperhidrosis - Los Angeles

Miradry Treatment for Armpit Hyperhidrosis

Miradry Santa Monica

For many years, the primary treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis has been the injection of Botox neurotoxin underneath the skin of the axilla.  Clinical studies have shown that neurotoxin injections can appropriately control axillary hyperhidrosis for months.  Most patients will note that the downsides of Botox injections for hyperhidrosis include the need for repeat injections that are often painful and uncomfortable.

Now, a revolutionary new procedure has been FDA approved for the treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis.  The Miradry system is now available at the Los Angeles office of Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian.  The Miradry system uses heat energy to effectively control excessive armpit sweating by destroying abnormal sweat glands in the axilla.

Unlike Botox injections for sweat, the Miradry system provides long lasting treatment without painful surgery, repeat injections, or incisions.  The Miradry system has shown clinical efficacy with high patient satisfaction in clinical trials as well as clinical practice.

Patients who have uncontrolled hyperhidrosis will require one to two treatments that are long lasting.  To begin your treatment with the Miradry system, a consultation is required to assess the severity of hyperhidrosis in the armpits.  Dr. Karamanoukian will examine the axilla and determine the appropriate course of action with the Miradry system or Botox injections.

If the Miradry system is recommended, a customized treatment plan will be developed for the Miradry therapy.  On the day of the procedure, patients are asked to come in 30 minutes prior to the procedure, wherein the area of treatment will be marked and analyzed.  The Miradry system will then be performed after local injection of anesthetic solution.

The anesthetic will minimize discomfort in the area and the patients will note mild pulling of the skin with the vacuum associated Miradry treatment.  In a recent study, patients noted an average pain scale of 2 on a 1 through 10 scale.
