Treatment of Melasma and Sunspots

Treatment for melasma and sunspots.

Melasma and sunspots can dramatically change the appearance of the face as a result of an overactivity of the melanocyte.  Sunspots generally occur more commonly after intense sun exposure or sunbathing.  On the other hand melasma can occur with or without sun exposure and is mainly influenced by hormones such as birth control pills, hormone replacement, or pregnancy.  The treatment of melasma and sunspots begins with a healthy deep cleanser to wash off all impurities from the skin, followed by the application of topical skin lightners such as the Melarase AM and Melarase PM system.

The Melarase system works deep at the cellular level to control the production of pigment by pigment cells deep within the epidermis.  In doing so, skin color becomes more even tone and complexion is improved.  Dramatic differences have been clinically evaluated after topical application of the Melarase system.  Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is an expert in melasma and pigmentary skin problems and has developed specific protocols to address uneven skin tones, sunspots, and melasma on the skin.
