Treatment of Melasma with Melarase Creams to lighten pigmentation on the face

What is the treatment for melasma?

Melasma is a progressive pigmentary skin problem that affects the face and neck in women of childbearing age.  Women are most commonly associated with melasma, it can also occur in men with a genetic predisposition to develop pigmentary disorders.  Melasma is often seen on the jawline, cheeks, forehead, and upper lip.  It is associated with a combination of risk factors including genetics, hormone exposure, birth control pills, pregnancy, sun exposure, and chronic inflammation such as eczema or dermatitis.  If you have melasma, people have noticed a gradual darkening of the skin in characteristic patches along the face.  These pigmentary patches contain excessive melanin and rarely resolve on their own.  Melasma treatments vary from individual to individual, but topical creams that contain skin brightening agents are among the first line of treatment available for melasma.  Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is an avid lecturer regarding melasma and associated pigmentary problems.  In his Los Angeles plastic surgery office, he offers consultation for melasma treatment as well as pigmentation treatment.

Treatment for melasma begins with a three to four month course of Melarase skin brightening cream.  Melarase AM and Melarase PM can be used effectively to reduce pigmentary deposition and tyrosinase activity in the skin.  In doing so, the skin begins to look brighter and more even complexion.  To discuss your options for melasma and skin pigmentation, call our Los Angeles plastic surgery office at 310-998-5533.
