Is it necessary to lose weight before a tummy tuck? Los Angeles tummy tuck surgeon

Is it necessary to lose weight before a tummy tuck?

Tummy tuck surgery is designed to remove excess skin and fat, including stretch marks in the lower abdomen.  There are many different patterns of weight gain and fat redundancy among different women and a tummy tuck surgery will help remove these areas of excess skin, fat, and stretch marks along the lower abdomen.  Although there are many variables in the preoperative assessment of a tummy tuck, the patients who have a genetic predisposition to develop excess skin and fat along the midline abdomen may not benefit from extensive dieting or weight loss prior to the surgery.

This is due to the fact that most of these stubborn areas of fat along the midline and lower abdomen are hormonally sensitive and are resistant to normal diet and exercise.  This genetically predisposition can make weight loss very difficulty for some adult females.  If you have tried diet and weight loss extensively and now wish to undergo a tummy tuck procedure, Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian, a board certified plastic surgeon in Los Angeles, can review your options for tummy tuck surgery and weight loss.
