How can I reduce hyperpigmentation from burn scars?

Hyperpigmentation is caused by metabolically active pigment cells contained within the dermis of the skin.  Burn scars and areas of skin trauma can have altered rates of pigment formation resulting in a darkening of the skin color.  The secondary problem with burn scars is thinning of the dermis, and lack of hair follicles, oil glands, and sweat glands on the skin.  This causes a characteristic texture on the surface of the burn scar which makes it appear more shiny.

The treatment of hyperpigmented burn scars begins with topical cream with begin to regulate the formation of pigment within the burn scar.  This can be accomplished with the Melarase skin brightening line of creams including Melarase AM, Melarase PM and Melapads.  These three products, in combination, will act to regulate pigment cells and reduce pigmentation associated with burn scars and traumatic scars on the face and body.
