What is the difference between spider veins and varicose veins? Los Angeles Vein Surgeon

What is the difference between spider veins and varicose veins?

Spider and varicose veins are different in terms of size and caliber.  Varicose vein represent wider diameter veins that are often bulging and swollen under the skin.  Spider veins are also known as thread veins and represents small dilated blood vessels underneath the skin.  Both spider and varicose veins may represent an early warning sign for more severe venous disease or may collectively be an isolated cosmetic concern.  Both spider and varicose veins can occur in the length and size and can cause symptoms associated with pain, discomfort, itching, and burning.  To determine whether you have spider or varicose veins, please schedule a consultation with our Los Angeles Vein Center and speak to one of our patient care coordinators who can help you schedule an appointment for vein treatment.  The Santa Monica Vein Center is a comprehensive clinic dedicated to the management of spider and varicose veins.
