Is tumescent anesthesia appropriate for revision liposuction? Board certified plastic surgen in Los Angeles - Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian

Tumescent anesthesia is an outstanding surgical technique to minimize complications during liposuction.  Years ago, liposuction performed without tumescent anesthesia resulted in increased blood loss and more bruising in face.  Tumescent anesthesia uses a combination of Novocain and epinephrine in order to minimize blood loss by vasoconstricting the small blood vessels within the fatty tissue.  In doing so, there is less injury to blood vessels and capillaries in the fat, causing less blood loss.

During revision liposuction with Los Angeles plastic surgeon Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian, tumescent anesthesia is used alone or in combination with general anesthesia in order to recontour and sculpt areas that require revision.  Revision liposuction can be minor procedure designed to moderate and re-proportion specific areas of fatty tissue after previous liposuction.  If you have had liposuction surgery with another surgeon and are unhappy with the result, small outpatient procedures can help you rebalance the proportions of your abdomen, legs, thighs, and hips.
