Can I undergo a mammogram after a breast lift surgery? Plastic Surgeon in Los Angeles at Kare Plastic Surgery

The goal of a breast lift is to reshape and tighten the skin around female breast in order to tighten the shape of the breast and reposition the nipple to a more attractive position.  Women over the age of 40 are often candidate for breast lift surgery after weight gain, weight loss, childbirth and pregnancy.  It is also recommended that woman of this age group also receive routine mammogram to detect any changes in the breast that may be a concern for breast cancer.  The patients who have undergone breast lift surgery can undertake a mammogram without difficulty.

Mastopexy surgery does not interfere with the sensitivity or spasticity of a mammogram or ultrasound examination of the breast.  If you have a family history of breast cancer, there should be no limitation in undergoing a mastopexy or breast lift surgery.  Questions about breast cancer detection and breast lift surgery should be addressed during your consultation with Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian.
