Will I require general anesthesia for my MiraDry hyperhidrosis treatment?

The MiraDry system has been FDA approved for the treatment of a condition known as axillary hyperhidrosis, otherwise known as armpit sweating.  Excessive armpit sweating is a condition wherein the sweat glands of certain region of the body produced excessive sweat that is not related to core body temperature.  Extensive sweating can occur regardless of the external room temperature and can begin to impair social activities.  Treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis includes suction curettage, Botox injections, and the MiraDry system.

The MiraDry system uses thermal energy to effectively destroy the underarm sweat glands within minutes of the procedure.  Local anesthesia and tumescent anesthesia is required, however general anesthetic is not necessary during the procedure.  You will remain awake during the entire length of the surgery and Dr. Karamanoukian can explain the benefits of the procedure during your initial consultation for hyperhidrosis in Los Angeles.  When the sweat glands are eliminated, your body will resume normal core physiologica regulation of body temperature and treatment will not impair your ability to regulate your own body temperature.  Please call the office of Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian at 310-998-5533.
