The MiraDry hyperhidrosis system is use to treat underarm sweating and is an FDA approved treatment for a specific diagnosis known as axillary hyperhidrosis.  The sweat glands of the axilla and underarms can develop abnormally, resulting in excessive perspiration and sweating from the underarms.  This can be an isolated problem or can occur in combination with hyperhidrosis of the face, palms, and feet.  Whatever the cause, excessive underarm sweating can become a social embarkment and can create physical debility as a result of uncontrolled sweating.  After you initial consultation with Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian regarding hyperhidrosis treatment, he will be able to schedule a consultation and a treatment for MiraDry, if your hyperhidrosis is appropriate for treatment.  During the initial procedure, the area of hyperhidrosis will be marked with a surgical marker and lidocaine anesthetic will be administered into the area in order to numb the area of treatment.  The MiraDry system will then be applied on to the skin of the armpit in several segments and the underlying sweat glands will be thermally eliminated.  Patients often note immediate improvement in their sweating and may require additional treatment of the remaining sweat glands within one to two months.

Patients do very well post treatment period and have few, if any physical impairments during your recovery.  If you have questions about hyperhidrosis and the MiraDry system for hyperhidrosis in the Los Angeles area, please call our Los Angeles plastic surgery office at 310-998-5533.  Our plastic surgery patient care coordinator can schedule a consultation with our board certified surgeon and help you schedule your MiraDry treatment therein.
