Capsular Contracture Diagnosis, Los Angeles Capsular Contracture Surgeon, Fix Breast Scars

Capsular contracture can affect women with both saline and silicone breast implant.  There are many different radiant of capsular contracture, depending on the thickness of the tissue capsule and its effects on the breast implant itself.  Mild capsular contracture can often be associated with no physical signs and it is hardly detectable on the examination.  As the severity of the tissue capsule thickening increases, the patients are more aware of changes in the breast tissue with associated hardening of the breast, visible changes in the breast implant shape, asymmetry of the breast, and malposition of the breast and nipple areolar complex as the breast implant begins to be restricted.

The patients who have capsular contracture should consider a consultation to determine the progression of the thickened tissue capsule and to begin treatment to minimize the long term consequences of capsular contracture.  The patients may benefit from nonsurgical and surgical approaches to capsular contracture, which are often based on the physical examination and assessment.  In the Los Angeles area, Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is a board certified plastic surgeon, who specializes in the management of capsular contracture and breast implant revision.  He has experience in nonsurgical and surgical treatment options for capsular contracture including capsulectomy and capsulotomy, as well as breast implant revision.  Often time, the entire breast implant, or ruptured breast implant must be removed at the time of surgery in order to achieve a more cosmetic appearance.

Dr. Karamanoukian specializes in cosmetic plastic surgery including mommy makeover, breast implant surgery, breast reconstruction, breast reduction, abdominoplasty, liposuction, and body contouring.  He performs plastic surgery in both Santa Monica and Beverly Hills.  If you have questions about breast implant revision or capsular contracture, schedule a consultation with our Los Angeles plastic surgery patient care coordinator at 310-998-5533.  Dr. Karamanoukian will undertake a comprehensive medical history and perform a directed physical examination to determine the likelihood of capsular contracture.
