What is the difference between a closed and open rhinoplasty? Beverly Hills and Los Angeles rhinoplasty surgeon

What is the difference between an open and a closed rhinoplasty?

A rhinoplasty is commonly known as a nose job.  During the surgery, a surgeon will need to trim cartilage and shave down the dorsum of the nose through several incisions.  If the nose is relatively straightforward, the rhinoplasty can be performed using small incisions placed inside the nostrils (known as a closed rhinoplasty).  If there is a lot of cartilage work to be performed, a plastic surgeon may instead opt to expose the nasal tip cartilage with an open rhinoplasty incision.  Practically speaking, a patient will not be able to discern the difference in scarring once the rhinoplasty is complete.
