Can revision rhinoplasty be performed as an open procedure? Rhinoplasty specialist in Los Angeles - Dr Raffy Karamanoukian

Open vs. Closed Revision Rhinoplasty?

A revision rhinoplasty can vary from patient to patient depending on the specific criteria that need to be addressed during the revision nose job.  Dr. Karamanoukian will begin your consultation by performing key cephalometric measurements in order to gage the proportion of the nose relative to the face, including the chin, brow, cheeks, and jawline.  He will also examine the individual nasal characteristics as they relate to one another, including the nasal tip, nasal bridge, nostrils, and columella.  By defining these key measurements, Dr. Karamanoukian will recommend a specific revision rhinoplasty treatment plan that addresses key components of the nose and optimizes the cosmetic gain after revision.

Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is a trusted leader in revision rhinoplasty surgery in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills.  He performs the majority of his revision rhinoplasty and primary rhinoplasty surgeries on an outpatient basis in an accredited operating room.  By optimizing preoperative measurements and preoperative cephalometrics, Dr. Karamanoukian can define the aspect of the nose that must be addressed during rhinoplasty.

In addition, Dr. Karamanoukian maintains high safety standards that optimize surgical safety and minimize postoperative recovery.  The performance of a revision rhinoplasty can be made with an open or closed technique, depending on patient’s preference, the patient’s specific characteristics, and the amount of scar tissue inherent in the nose prior to surgery.  Patients may benefits from both a closed or open rhinoplasty technique depending on specific characteristics that needs to be addressed during revision rhinoplasty.

During your initial consultation with Dr. Karamanoukian, he will examine your nose and help you determine whether an open or close rhinoplasty should be performed during your revision nose surgery.  Both techniques have specific benefits and can help you optimize your long term results.  Our Los Angeles plastic surgery patient care coordinator can help you schedule a consultation with Dr. Karamanoukian for septoplasty, septorhinoplasty, and revision rhinoplasty surgery in the Los Angeles area.  Please call 310-998-5533 to speak to our patient care coordinator.
