What are the types of anesthesia used for a eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)? Blepharoplasty expert plastic surgeon in Los Angeles - Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian

Eyelid surgery is one of the most common facial aesthetic surgery performed in our Los Angeles plastic surgery office.  Blepharoplasty is the technical term for an upper or lower eyelid surgery.  There are many choices for anesthesias during eyelid surgery including local anesthesias, oral, or intravenous sedation and general anesthesias.  Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian has pioneered in blepharoplasty procedures with local anesthesia that can provide other method of general anesthesia in an accredited operating room.  Working closely with a board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Karamanoukian performs upper or lower eyelid surgery using general anesthesia or sedation with an anesthesiologist.  For those who perform milder types of anesthesia, a local anesthetic is a suitable option for the upper or lower blepharoplasty.  Eyelid surgery can rejuvenate the eyelid and remove excess fat in the tightening of the skin of the upper or lower eyelid.  This is particularly beneficial for patients who have sagging eyelids, droopy eyelids, and deep wrinkles around the eyes.

In some cases during your consultation Dr. Karamanoukian will advise you to consider a browlift combined upper and lower blepharoplasty, or simple Botox injection to remove and improve lines around the eyes.  If you are a candidate for blepharoplasty both the upper and lower can be performed at the same time or individually.  During your consultation Dr. Karamanoukian will also perform a physical examination of the pertinent area and determine your eligibility for a cosmetic surgery.  If you have questions about cosmetic plastic surgery, facial rejuvenation surgery, or eyelid surgery in Los Angeles, please call our office at 310-998-5533 and speak to our plastic surgery patient care coordinator.
