Will I need an osteotomy during my rhinoplasty to correct my wide nasal bridge? - Kare Plastic Surgery - Rhinoplasty expert - Dr. Karamanoukian

One of the most important reasons to undergo rhinoplasty is for cosmetic improvement of the nose.  The patients with a wide nasal bridge can benefit from a rhinoplasty surgery for correction of poor aesthetic contours.  The bridge of the nose is an important aesthetic unit of the nose and can be repositioned and reset using a combination of nasal osteotomy and rafting of the nasal bridge.  By rafting the nasal bridge, small amount of correction can be obtained in order to reduce the nasal hump.  To determine whether an osteotomy is needed during your rhinoplasty Dr. Karamanoukian will perform a medical history and determine the details of your nose with a metric analysis.  By examining the bridge of the nose, width of the nose, and projection of the nose, he will be able to determine whether a nasal bone reduction or resetting is necessary with an osteotomy.  An osteotomy is usually the last potion of a rhinoplasty procedure and is safe and effective in resizing and repositioning the nose for cosmetic reason.  If you have questions about rhinoplasty surgery or need for rhinoplasty surgery in your particular case, please call our Los Angeles plastic surgery patient care coordinator who will assist you in scheduling a consultation with Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian.
