Varicose vein surgery in Santa Monica-Santa Monica Vein Center

Patients with spider and varicose veins can have a variety of presentations, including symptomatic spider veins, bulging varicose veins, and large symptomatic varicose veins.  The extent of venous disease is not only associated with the physical appearance of spider and varicose veins, but the underlying symptoms of pain, discomfort, leg ache, cramping, swelling, restless legs, and generalized discomfort.  Varicose veins can appear in the feet, ankles, legs, and thighs.

Although there are variety of causes for varicose veins, the most common are related to occupation, family history, and hormonal exposure.  Most varicose veins are caused by damage to the vein valves that form the inner lining of a normal vein. Learn more about spider veins at the Santa Monica Vein Center.

If you have symptomatic varicose veins, delaying treatment may cause further progression of the problem.  Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is a board certified vein surgeon and can provide you with details for treatment of your veins.  Newer treatments include laser guided venous ablation, laser spider vein removal, foam sclerotherapy, dynamic foam sclerotherapy, radiofrequency, endovenous ablation, laser endovenous ablation, EVLT, VNUS, and ambulatory phlebectomy.  Ambulatory phlebectomy is a outpatient procedure in which small incisions are used to surgically eliminate superficial bulging varicose veins from the legs and thighs.

The procedure takes less than 20 minutes to perform in most cases and patients are able to return to normal activities within 12 to 24 hours of their procedure.  Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is an expert in ambulatory phlebectomy as well as laser guided venous treatment.  If you have questions related to varicose vein treatment in Santa Monica, please call the Santa Monica Vein Center at 310-998-5535.
