Laser hair removal and PCO Polycystic Ovary Syndrome - Laser hair removal in Los Angeles

Learn More about Laser Hair Removal

There are many reasons to undergo laser hair removal on the face.  Some female patients may have a condition known as polycystic ovaries (PCO) which makes them develop excessive hair on the face and body.  At Kare Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Center, our office performs laser hair removal for both medical and cosmetic reasons, even in the setting of polycystic ovaries (PCO).  Common areas of laser hair removal include the upper lip, chin, sideburns and back of the neck.

The excessive hair may cause social embarrassment and traditional hair removal treatment such as waxing, shaving, or electrolysis may lead to acne breakouts and ingrown hair.  Our office uses both the Candela GentleYAG laser and the Palomar StarLux system for permanent hair removal in Santa Monica and the Los Angeles area.

Typically, three to five treatments are needed to effectively remove unwanted hair.  If you have a condition such as PCO which leads to excessive hair growth, there may be a hormonal component that can be addressed simultaneously with the laser hair removal.  Hormonal fluctuations and PCO may make it more difficult to achieve permanent hair removal, but our team of expert can help you achieve your goals for permanent hair reduction.  Call our Skin Health Clinic at Kare Plastic Surgery at (310) 998-5533 and schedule an appointment today.
