Removing French PIP Implants in the United States - Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon

PIP breast implants manufactured in France were reported to contain a lower grade of silicone, making removal of the implants more difficult and time consuming if there is evidence of rupture.  Brazil's Health Ministry recently banned the importation and use of PIP implants in women following the French report.  Other South American countries are soon to follow.

Although Dr. Karamanoukian only uses FDA approved silicone breast implants that adhere to strict safety guidelines placed by the US FDA, he is familiar with the management of breast implants placed in other countries.  He routinely sees patients from South America, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait.  Schedule a consultation for silicone breast implants.

Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian provides expertise in the management of difficult breast implant ruptures and capsular contracture.  Schedule a consultation with Dr. Karamanoukian in Beverly Hills or Santa Monica if you wish to discuss your alternatives for PIP breast implant removal or replacement in the Los Angeles area.  Schedule a consultation by calling (310) 998-5533.

Dr. Karamanoukian,

'Your patients have selected you for the Patients' Choice Award in 2011. More than 200,000 patient reviews and ratings are gathered each month. This top rating has only been awarded to you and a select few of the nation's most beloved doctors. Congratulations! Your patients have taken the time to compliment you in areas such as: your bedside manner, the amount of time you spend with them, the courtesy of your staff, appropriate follow-up, and their overall opinion of you as a physician. Quite simply, you are one of the best! Display your prestigious award in your waiting room or exam rooms so that your patients know how highly regarded you are (only 5 percent of the nation's active physicians were accorded this honor by their patients in 2011.)'

What is the recovery with IPL: Santa Monica IPL treatment with Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian in Los Angeles

Learn more about IPL treatment:

What is the recovery time with IPL Photofacials?

IPL photofacials use a broad spectrum light to improve facial discoloration and sun spots on the face. The light energy is similar to laser, but is technically different that a single wavelength laser beam.  In our office in Los Angeles, we typically use IPL photofacials for sun spots, age spots, melasma, sun damage, fine wrinkles, and facial redness.  The IPL photofacials should be used in conjunction with a good sunscreen and topical treatment for skin discoloration.  We recommend the Melaquin Skin Brightening Complex line of products, including Melaquin AM and Melaquin PM.

There is minimal downtime with the IPL procedure, as patients will return to normal activities after IPL.  Some of the dark spots will become slightly more noticeable and the redness from the treatment usually subsides within a few hours.  We recommend immediate application of a sunscreen, Melaquin AM Daily UV Protect or equivalent, and avoidance of direct sun exposure.

How soon after a breast augmentation should someone undergo a mammogram?

Breast cancer screening is important in all adults females of childbearing age.  Routine screening begins with self breast examination, followed by mammograms annually as prescribed by your plastic surgeon or primary care physician.

Dr. Karamanoukian is a firm advocate of routine breast cancer screening as well as mammograms for all female patients, regardless of whether or not they have undergone breast augmentation

Top Treatments for Over-Plucked Eyebrows: Santa Monica Hair Transplant

At Santa Monica Hair Transplant and Restoration Center we are excited to discuss the latest developments in the field of eyebrow hair restoration. As eyebrow hair restoration specialists, we believe that a multidisciplinary approach to eyebrow restoration translates to the best results. This should involve a healthy and balanced diet including vitamin supplements such as biotin, minimally invasive procedures such as PRP injections, and finally micro-hair transplantation. Hair transplant for thinning eyebrows is not a new phenomenon, but recent advances in knowledge and techniques are making eyebrow transplant a more common remedy.

Eyebrow hair transplant in Santa Monica

There are basically two techniques for eyebrow hair restoration, Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) also known at the strip method; and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). In FUT a strip of your hair is removed from the back of the scalp; the strip is usually processed by specially trained technicians under a microscope and then the Follicular Units are transplanted to the recipient site. This method was considered the gold standard for decades and many surgeons still perform the procedure, however there are serious downsides to this method such as a permanent scars, greater pain, and longer recovery time. Lower graft survival is also a major deterrent to performing FUT on the eyebrows.  The benefit is lower cost.

FUE involves the harvesting of individual hair follicles and transplanting them into the recipient area. We refer to the FUE technique as micro-hair transplantation because it requires meticulous attention to detail and the individual follicles are selected based on caliber, density, and quality. This translates to minimal risk of permanent donor scars, less pain, faster recovery, and greater survival of the grafts.

Contact the Santa Monica Hair Transplant and Restoration Center at (310) 998-5533 to discuss options for eyebrow reconstruction.
