Some patients have asked for a very effective non-surgical procedure to improve wrinkles around the mouth and face.  After a thorough study of the available treatments across the globe, the most effective treatment available currently is the Fractional CO2 laser.  Dr. Karamanoukian recently purchased an outstanding system manufactured in Italy that is all the rage in Europe. Deka, the manufacturer of the SmartXide CO2, is the world's largest producer of aesthetic lasers and has developed this revolutionary laser with the idea of a non-surgical laser peel.  The treatment effectively improves wrinkles around the mouth and eyes, tightens the facial skin, and can minimize if not eliminate uneven texture and pigmentation around the face.  The laser is often performed in conjunction with an eyelid surgery or facelift surgery to tighten the areas of the mouth and undereyes. How to best prepare for fractional CO2 laser? - Santa Monica Plastic Surgery - Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian

Fractional CO2 laser can be used effectively for acne scars, moderate wrinkles, fine wrinkles, and skin resurfacing.  Fractional CO2 laser has also been used as a nonsurgical facial rejuvenation procedure in lieu of a facelift or neck-lift.  The results of fractional CO2 laser are outstanding in the face of skin laxity and loss of skin tone.  The fractional CO2 laser can add elasticity and resilience to the skin and achieve a more youthful and toned facial contour.  Treatment with fractional CO2 laser should begin with a consultation and evaluation of your skin.  If appropriate, Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian will prescribe a topical skin regimen including Melaquin AM, Melaquin PM, and MelaPads.  This topical skin regimen will prep your skin prior to fractional CO2 laser resurfacing.  After your laser skin resurfacing treatment, you will be advised to continue the Melaquin Skin Brightening Complex to restore a brilliant tone to your skin.  Please call our office at 310-998-5533 if you have any questions about the Melaquin Skin Brightening Complex or the fractional CO2 laser resurfacing treatment.  Our office is located in Santa Monica and Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian provides treatment in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills.

How can I improve hyperpigmentation after fractional CO2 laser? - Kare Plastic Surgery

Fractional CO2 laser, as with most other lasers, has a risk of developing hyperpigmentation.  The goal of treatment is to diagnose the risk of hyperpigmentation early in the process.  Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is an expert on hyperpigmentation and melasma and has written a book about these conditions.

Patients who have undergone fractional CO2 laser or Fraxel laser who have developed hyperpigmentation are evaluated and placed on a topical skin regimen known as Melarase.  The topical skin regimen includes Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and MelaPads.  Collectively, these topical treatments can reduce hyperpigmentation and associated skin discoloration resulting from fractional laser and fractional CO2 laser.  If you have had hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration from a laser treatment, please contact our office to schedule an appointment for consultation.

Our expert skin specialist can begin a topical skin regimen including Melarase Skin Brightening Complex.  Please call our office at 310-998-5533 to schedule your consultation in Los Angeles.

Can fractional CO2 laser be used for acne scars on Asian skin?

Fractional CO2 laser is one of the most ideal laser platforms for skin surface irregularities and acne scars on the skin.  Fractional CO2 can be used on most skin types; however, darker skin types necessitate less aggressive and less invasive treatment with fractional CO2.  Asian skin can vary in terms of level of pigmentation but is particularly prone to acne scars.  In practice fractional CO2 laser can be used on acne scars to resurface the skin and recontour skin irregularities and atrophic acne scars on the face.

Patients with darker skin complexion and olive tone skin can also be candidates for fractional CO2 laser.  In patients with darker skin tones, a three to four week pretreatment skin protocol will be required, which includes treatment with Melaquin AM, Melaquin PM, and MelaPads.  To schedule a consultation for fractional CO2 laser for acne scars, please call our office at 310-998-5533.

In our Santa Monica plastic surgery office, we offer fractional CO2 laser resurfacing for the face and neck.  Fractional CO2 laser is an ablative skin resurfacing laser that is used to treat acne scarring and skin contour irregularities resulting from scars or acne.  The treatment takes less than one hour to perform and works to resurface the skin and to tighten the overall skin tone.  In doing so surface irregularities and atrophic scars are resurfaced and improved.  Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is a double board certified plastic surgeon and expert in fractional CO2 laser resurfacing for acne scars.  Acne scars can be hypertrophic or atrophic.  Fractional CO2 laser works best on atrophic acne scars in order to reduce the visibility of the scar and to improve the overall contour of the scar.  In practice, fractional CO2 can build collagen and elastin and stimulates the skin to restore a more natural and useful ski contour.  Schedule a consultation for acne scar removal and acne scar treatment using the fractional CO2 laser resurfacing treatment at Kare Plastic Surgery.
