Can my breathing be improved during rhinoplasty surgery?

The nasal airway is an important component of a complete rhinoplasty surgery.  Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is a trusted board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in nasal surgery and rhinoplasty.  During your consultation for rhinoplasty surgery in Los Angeles, Dr. Karamanoukian will carefully examine the nose from the inside out in order to determine whether there is a medical breathing problem in combination with a cosmetic nasal construction.

If there is indeed septal deviation, a broken or fractured septum, and problems with the airway, Dr. Karamanoukian will address these during your consultation.  Dr. Karamanoukian performs all types of nasal reconstruction and rhinoplasty surgery in Los Angeles.  Please call our patient care coordinator at 310 998-5533.

Can I improve breathing with a septoplasty? Los Angeles Septoplasty Expert Surgeon

Can I improve breathing with a septoplasty?

A septoplasty procedure addresses the internal nasal cartilage that divides the two nostrils and the airway on the left and right sides.  A septoplasty is performed during a rhinoplasty procedure as an alone procedure in order to improve breathing and the nasal airway.  The proponents of a septoplasty procedure or a septorhinoplasty procedure advocate the use of a septal reshaping in order to improve nasal obstruction and breathing obstruction caused by a deviated or crooked septum.  The patients who have undergone septoplasty alone or in combination with a rhinoplasty note an improved breathing during the day and during sleep.

If you are concerned about nasal obstruction as a result of trauma or normal development, Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is a specialist in septorhinoplasty and septoplasty procedures.  During your initial consultation for nose surgery, Dr. Karamanoukian will evaluate inside of your nose and determine whether there is a nasal obstruction caused by a crooked cartilage.  The majority of patients who have a deviated septum do so as a result of previous trauma during childhood or adulthood.

If you have questions about a septoplasty procedure and wish to undergo correction of the septum in order to improve and restore normal breathing, please call our Los Angeles plastic surgery office at 310-998-5533.

Can rhinoplasty correct asymmetric nostrils? Los Angeles Rhinoplasty Surgeon

Can rhinoplasty correct asymmetric nostrils?

A rhinoplasty procedure can address many different parts of the nose, including the nasal tip and the nostrils.  From a inferior view, the nostrils can appear crooked or asymmetric, leading to a poor cosmetic result and rarely, a nasal obstruction that affects the ability to breath.  The nostrils are the external openings into the nasal valves and can be obstructed by pieces of cartilage that block the normal passage of air.  The patients who undergo rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty procedure should first undergo a consultation with Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian, a board certified plastic surgeon, to identify nostril asymmetry and obstruction of the external nasal opening from previous surgery or trauma.  If the nostrils are obstructed or if there is scar tissue related to the nostrils, there may be obstruction and nostril asymmetry.

Dr. Karamanoukian can first evaluate these conditions and determine whether nostril surgery is recommended during your rhinoplasty in order to correct nostril asymmetry and improve the overall contour of the nose.  Cosmetic rhinoplasty and medical rhinoplasty both can correct the nostril asymmetry.  If you have questions about nostril asymmetry or revision rhinoplasty, please call our Los Angeles plastic surgery office at 310-998-5533.  Nostrils, asymmetry, uneven nasal tip.
